Just weeks after an actor claiming to be the original voice filed a lawsuit alleging she never agreed to be featured in the app, TikTok has altered the voice on its text-to-speech functionality. Over the last day, the new voice has been popping up in TikToks, mostly in videos of individuals reacting to the shift. It has a much more vibrant and enthusiastic tone than the previous voice, giving it a completely new atmosphere. TikTok users can input text and have it read out over their movies using this tool, which is frequently utilized as a narrator. This new voice appears to be in response to a lawsuit filed earlier this month against TikTok owner ByteDance. Bev Standing, a voice actress, claimed to be the voice behind TikTok's text-to-speech functionality, despite the fact that she had never agreed to work with the company. Standing stated that she had made voice recordings for the purpose of translation, but that she had not given her permission for her voice to be used in any other way. The lawsuit is about the North American English-language voice. The original tone can still be heard in videos made before the modification. Standing's lawsuit and the new voice have yet to be addressed by TikTok. However, the adjustment this week implies that the firm is paying attention to her lawsuit.
